2024 Metro FM Music Awards Sponsored by Motsepe Foundation

The Metro FM Music Awards represents an initiative that builds on the Motsepe Foundation’s longstanding commitment to nurture talent while fostering social cohesion and inclusivity in South Africa.

The Motsepe Foundation is the proud sponsor of one of South Africa’s biggest music award shows, the Metro FM Music Awards, taking place on Freedom Day, Saturday 27 April, and hosted by the city of Mbombela. This sponsorship marks the beginning of a five-year commitment by the Motsepe Foundation to support and elevate the Metro FM Music Awards.

The Metro FM Music Awards represents an initiative that builds on the Motsepe Foundation’s longstanding commitment to nurture talent while fostering social cohesion and inclusivity in South Africa.

The African Union Agenda 2063 calls on Africa to rediscover enthusiasm for the arts and cultural industries in order to propel Africa toward becoming a hub of creativity and innovation. Necessary support for South Africa’s burgeoning and diverse music industry can unleash its social and economic potential.

“The Motsepe Foundation recognises the social and economic value of the arts,” says Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, co-founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation. “By investing in the growth and development of our arts and cultural production, we can inspire the African renaissance and foster prosperity, especially among the youth.”

Since 2016, the Motsepe Foundation has supported and sponsored the South Africa’s Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE). This school’s development platform brings together over 7 000 learners, and over 5 000 guests, to celebrate South Africa’s cultural heritage, promote social transformation, and pay tribute to the musical talents amongst the youth. 

In line with the Motsepe Foundation mission, this sponsorship expresses our dedication to supporting projects that promote unity and respect for all races, faiths, and cultures.
