Motsepe Foundation to Host 2023 Information & Opportunities Expo for Youth
The Motsepe Foundation’s Information and Opportunities Expo returns on 15 June 2023. The 2023 exhibition will be held under the theme Ready for the Future to prepare youth for changes occurring in the world of work and to give them skills and the mindset for labour market success.
Many of the exhibiting companies from 2022 are set to return, and many new ones are expected to join. Exhibiting companies will pledge skills training, internships, and work opportunities to the over 900 youth delegates expected to attend.
Following a successful launch in 2022, where 20 companies pledged more than 700 labour market opportunities to delegates, the upcoming Information and Opportunities Expo is set to expand further to meet its mission of unlocking 1-million opportunities for youth by 2026.
Alongside the exhibitions, the Motsepe Foundation and accompanying companies will host workshops in soft and technical skills that will strengthen youth-owned businesses and ensure work readiness for those who are job searching.
“The Information and Opportunities Expo is about bringing all stakeholders together to ensure that we do things differently,” says Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Co-Founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation.
“Actively working towards solutions that reduce youth unemployment is a task that cannot be left to government alone to resolve. Youth must be equipped to contribute to national efforts aimed at advancing sustainable development. They cannot be left behind”.
According to recent figures, 46.5% of youth between 15 – 34 years old are unemployed. Matching their skills to the opportunities available is a priority for the Motsepe Foundation and participating organisations.
The Motsepe Foundation would especially like to call on more companies to get in touch and participate in the expo.
Partnerships will help make this an event that turns the tide and creates youth jobs and, from this, youth hope and youth prosperity in our country.
