Motsepe Foundation Supports Women Deliver 2023 Conference in Rwanda
The Centre for Gender Equality, Wellness and Leadership (GEWAL) at the Motsepe Foundation will host a conversation with African STEM practitioners at the Women Deliver 2023 Conference in Kigali, Rwanda. Taking place on 18 July, the discussion will highlight the work and insights of social entrepreneurs who are supported by the Motsepe Foundation.
The session, titled A Conversation with African Practitioners, will reflect on social entrepreneurs’ impact on women and girls in Africa, particularly within education and STEM industries.
The Motsepe Foundation’s GEWAL is a supportive funder of the Women Deliver 2023 Conference. During the conference, GEWAL will spotlight their commitment to nurturing the social economy in Africa to the 6,000 community, public and private sector leaders, from around the world, who are in attendance.
Taking place from 17-20 July 2023 in Rwanda, it will be the first Women Deliver Conference held on the continent since it was established in 2007. Held under the theme Spaces, Solidarity, and Solutions, the Women Deliver 2023 Conference will foster global solidarity for sustainable interventions on gender equality.
During the Women Deliver 2019 Conference in Vancouver, Canada the Motsepe Foundation invited five high school learners to attend. The learners engaged with global leaders, absorbing their perspectives and best practices, and inspiring initiatives that they have since effected for community and national impact in South Africa.
At the upcoming conference, the Motsepe Foundation delegation includes: Apiwe Hotele (South Africa), the 2022 Motsepe Foundation Golden Circle winner and Founder of the social enterprise Enlighten Edu; as well as Bruktawit Tigabu Tadesse (Ethiopia), who is a Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship fellow and Founder of Whiz Kids Workshop.
The work of Women Deliver is aligned to the Motsepe Foundation. With a network of influential women in business, as well as policymakers, and community leaders, the Motsepe Foundation initiates and implements programmes for women and girls with a mission to build momentum for gender equality in social, economic and public life.
