The Race to Gender Equality presented by the Motsepe Foundation and Athletics South Africa (ASA), in association with the City of Johannesburg and Central Gauteng Athletics, returns on 10 March at Marks Park Sports Club in Johannesburg.

The Race to Gender Equality returns with its original offering of a 21.1km marathon and 5km fun run and will now also include the ASA 10km championships. The inclusive 5km fun run and walk welcomes participants of all backgrounds, genders, and ages.

Hosted annually to commemorate International Women’s Day, the Race to Gender Equality aims to promote efforts that will unlock the full potential of women and girls. Symbolically, the Race to Gender Equality acknowledges that we are all, locally and nationally, participating in a marathon and must race towards achieving gender equality in our lifetime.

To encourage gender equality actions and activism amongst the youth, the Motsepe Foundation has allocated 200 free running spots for university athletes and Motsepe Foundation bursary programme graduates.

A total of R560 000 will be awarded in prize money for winners of the half-marathon and 10km race, across various categories. Participants can register to participate HERE
