WATCH More than 20 Organisations are Unlocking Opportunities

Taking place on 15 June in Johannesburg, the Information & Opportunities Expo is a free-to-attend exhibition of internships, skills development, and entry-level job prospects for unemployed youth. Companies including MultiChoice, MTN, Bathu, Aspen Pharmacare, and CSG Group have joined the #UnlockingOpportunities campaign led by the Motsepe Foundation.

Returning partners for the 2023 youth jobs exhibition includes Naspers, Accenture, Agri Enterprise, Tsebo Group, PwC and SNG Grant Thornton, as well as Motsepe family affiliated companies African Rainbow Minerals, Harmony Gold, Sanlam, Tymebank, African Fashion International, and Mamelodi Sundowns FC who have also pledged work opportunities.

“We need to do our utmost to ensure young people are prepared for work and entrepreneurial opportunities arising in the digital economy,” says Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Co-Founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation. “The Information & Opportunities Expo is a multistakeholder initiative driven by the Motsepe Foundation to support reductions in youth unemployment and enable their contributions to our economy, country and continent.”

Private companies will also be joined by NGOs South African Depression and Anxiety Group, Lifeline, and Yes4Youth who will provide informative support aligned to their programmes.

“For over 50 years, Tsebo has endeavoured to be a force for social good,” says Dr Chris Jardine, Group CEO of Tsebo Solutions Group. “To tackle inequality, it’s critical that we collaborate to foster a system rooted in capacity enhancement, diversity, inclusivity, and social cohesion. We look forward to sharing our SETA-accredited Learnership and Skills Development opportunities with the next generation of leaders attending the Expo.”

To practically prepare the youth for the changes occurring within the labour market, workshops will cover CV Development and Work Readiness. To inspire the delegates, model and activist Thando Hopa, Kizito Okechukwu the CEO of 22 on Sloane, and former footballer Jabu Pule Mahlangu will join discussions on the Future of Work, Nurturing a Mindset for Success, and Leading in a Digital Age.

At least 1 000 youth graduates, including final-year university students, are expected to attend.
