8th Gender Equality, Wellness and Leadership Summit to Inspire Action for Gender Equality

The Motsepe Foundation is pleased to announce the 8th Gender Equality, Wellness, and Leadership (GEWAL) Summit, in recognition of International Women’s Day on Friday, 8 March. Esteemed leaders from diverse industries will gather to exchange insights, reflections, and best practices aimed at fostering inclusivity.

The 2024 GEWAL Summit, alongside the annual Opening Bell for Gender Equality at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, will explore how to balance measures that support women as leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers, with measures that provide basic support to vulnerable women and girls.

Held under the theme Building Inclusive and Sustainable Economies, guests are encouraged to join the livestream via Motsepe Foundation’s Facebook and YouTube pages to participate.

Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Co-Founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation, emphasized the importance of actively transforming economies, stating, “While women have made strides in education, true economic equality and leadership remain elusive. Our economic and business decisions must be underpinned by values of inclusion, collaboration, and innovation.”

Distinguished speakers scheduled for the event include anti-apartheid activist Sophia Williams-De Bruyn; as well as Nomsa Chabeli, CEO of SABC; Teresa Clark, an investment banker and internet entrepreneur; business leader Futhi Mtoba; and CEO OF Business Leadership South Africa, Busisiwe Mavuso.

The 2024 GEWAL Summit will spotlight Africa’s unique opportunity to move towards New Economies with a youthful population and growing economic integration occurring across the continent. Discussions will prioritize readiness for a digital future and will realign financial frameworks to support new economic objectives, in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals.

In addition to thought-provoking conversation, guests at the 2024 GEWAL Summit will have the opportunity to confront fears and embrace bold action, assisted by University of Johannesburg’s cutting-edge AI technology. Complimentary health and wellness checks will also be available onsite by Dr Nomonde Mabuya and her Qalodigihealth team.
